How to apply for JAMB Remarking

So many JAMB candidates have argued and keep complaining that JAMB is to blame for their low scores or non release of certain scores in certain subjects, and have for long feared that there was nothing that could be done about the situation.

Well, www.allstudentcampus.com has been able to gather exclusive information and some tips from some JAMB officials about a procedure for remarking of scripts of candidates who dare to contest their scores.

These procedures have been hidden for a while due to lack of publicity and the stress involved in taking these steps. However, we believe that if a student is determined to challenge JAMB, they should have adequate information on how to go about the process. After all, if you're sure of yourself, it's better spending N10,000 than waiting for the next 1 year to take another JAMB.

STEPS ON HOW TO APPLY FOR JAMB REMARKING

1. You should be in ABUJA. Since the Jamb Office in Abuja is the Headquarters for the board, all scripts nationwide are usually sent there for marking. Hence it's only in the Abuja Headquarters that your script can be accessed. So get to the JAMB headquarters.
2. You will need to make a payment of about N10,000 to apply for remarking and a receipt will be issued to you so it is official.
3. Your script will be searched, pulled out and marked in your presence.

Once your script is remarked, here are the 2 scenarios that can occur;
1. JAMB is correct about the score given; If this is the case, then you go home and either use the score you had or wait for the next JAMB. There will be NO REFUND.
2. YOU are correct about the score given; In this case, JAMB will officially apologize for the error, give you your actual marks obtained and according to Prof Dibu Ojeride on Weekend file interview of 18th May, give you up to N100,000 for compensation.

For the 2013 UTME, this procedure starts as from 3rd June.

So what's your opinion about this? Are you going for Remarking?

JAMB releases 68,000 withheld results at last!

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it has

released the results of more than 68,000 candidates that wrote the

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on April 27.

This was disclosed on Saturday by the JAMB Lagos Zonal Coordinator,

Kamaldeen Oladeji.

Mr. Oladeji said the results, initially seized on account of biometric

verification related issues, have all been released. He advised

affected candidates, who had protested the development recently in

Lagos, Kano, and other places to check their results on the board's

website.

A total of 1,629,102 candidates applied to sit for the Paper Pencil

Test (PPT),while 15,008 candidates applied for the Dual Based Test

(DBT), bringing the number of candidates to 1,644,110.

The results of over 1.5 million candidates were released on May 3.

No going back on computer based exams

Mr. Oladeji also said that there was no going back on the newly

introduced Computer Based Test (CBT).

The zonal coordinator, who supervised the CBT of the Unified Tertiary

MatriculationExamination at University ofLagos, said this in an

interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos.

A total of 100,000 candidates would be taking the examination across

56 centres in the country.

The examination, which is the first of its kind conducted by the

board, is expected to come to an end on June 1.

The zonal coordinator noted that if the country was to compete

favourably with other climes, especially with regards to technological

advancement, all hands must be on deck to support the initiative.

According to him, the adoption of the CBT will eventually assist in

enhancing ICT skills amongstthe citizenry.

"This CBT examination has come to stay, once we get it right, others

will follow because as you can see, our education system is gradually

transiting to e-education.

"This means, we should be talking e-learning, e-teaching, e-research

across all the various levels of education in our system.

"With ICT, we can achieve alot in no time, but the only challenge

currently is that the computer penetration and infrastructural backing

is still very low in our society,'' he said.

Mr. Oladeji implored stakeholders in the private sector to strive to

improve infrastructure and internet penetration across the country.

"The private sector must wake up to their Corporate Social

Responsibility (CSR), in ensuring that they tag along this line and

seek ways of partnering with government in achieving this feat," he

said.

According to him, education is a fundamental issue and must not be

left to government alone to tackle, adding that if this was

accomplished; the society will be the better for it.

"Government and private operators should partner in such a way that

the CSR should be 80 per cent education and 20 per cent others.

"When we talk of human personnel capacity, especially in respect to

ICT, we have it and I want to assure you that by 2014, we might likely

not have anymore Paper Pencil Test.

"The examination will be reduced to only the Dual Based Testing and

the on-going CBT until 2015, when it will be a full blown CBT with the

others completely phased out.

"I also want to state that assoon as the CBT mode fully takes shape,

other examination bodies such as WAEC, NECO and others would follow,

as the introduction of e-testing is already a national policy," he

said.

Mr. Oladeji said that if there was sound and qualitative education in

place, there would be no militancy or anyinsurgent group holding

citizens and government to ransom.

"Education promotes egalitarianism. If we want an egalitarian society,

we must be educated," he said.

The zonal coordinator said that the introduction of the CBT would also

eliminate all forms of examination malpractice and assist candidates

to develop skills in ICT.

The supervisor said that results of the 350 candidates, who wrote the

examination at the University of Lagos, would be released within four

hours after its completion.

He said that the results, which ought to have been released

immediately after the test, were intentionally delayed, to avoid any

attackon the systems by candidates who did not perform well.

"We are delaying the results slightly because we do not want the

candidates to attack the system in a feat of anger, if they see their

results instantly and are not pleased with their performance.

"The results will be made available to them through short message

service (SMS) or any other means, but it will sure get to them same

day," he said.

(NAN)

allstudentcampus wishes all 200 300 for delaying your results

JAMB Registrar's Comments on NTA - Summary

The registrar of JAMB, Prof Ojerinde was on NTA Weekend Live today,

18th May and the following comments were extracted from his

interview...

- Over 700,000 candidates have chance to get into school this year

(those with 180 and above).

- Candidates who tried to cheat were given Types A,B,C,D when the

types werecomposed of D,I,B,U (From his name initials)... he

asked, where did the students get type A and C expo from? Confirming

all expos were Fake and a SCAM.

- He also talked about students no longer serious to study as most of

them failed to read the 2 novels recommended by JAMB from which

questions were set.

- If you think your script was not marked well, come over as from June

1st and challenge JAMB to get your script remarked. If there's an

error, they'll give you N100,000.

From our personal deduction, the JAMB cut-off will not be reduced!

Warning: All 2013/2014 Admission Seekers Should Read This Now!

It's been awhile I had time to make up some educative articles for the students as I normally do. Reason: I have been busier at work of recent, nonetheless, I have a warning and advise for you today. Read and pass it to your family and friends (FF).

Nigeria is a country with "little" or "no" regulation in the scheme of services and things delivered to the public, especially to our students; thus careful students have learnt to protect themselves against fraud and frustration. I will take them one after another...

Several Education/News Blogs
Today Nigeria has more than a thousand news blogs posting "copied" contents about education in various facets, admission and related topics. Most of this bloggers know little or nothing about the subject matter. They are only after money -which I doubt if they end up seeing.

JAMB Result Upgrade Scam
It is easy to scam students in a country where no one cares to read, where "expo" rules. But mind you, there is nothing like result upgrading! If you have given your hard earned income to anyone (in cash or in favor) as regards to upgrading, you have been duped.

JAMB change of course(s)/institution(s)
Of a truth, JAMB introduced the changes of course/institution platform to allow for meaningful corrections and switch of choices for candidates. These changes are official, but going through it the wrong way can lead to serious frustrations.

JAMB change of course is a sensitive process, professionals (people with experience) should handle it. Already there are several reports of people who have ran into mistakes doing it themselves, and sorry for such candidates. It's over for them, till next year. Mistakes in change of course or school is not reversible! To entrust your changes in hands or professionals trained for it, to request it from Myschool.com.ng.

Admission "Runs"
Several people will claim to be "Dr. this or Dr. that", posing themselves as lecturers or Dean in some schools and promising to give you admission even when you know you failed. Be careful!

Sit down now that you have chance and time, study for your post UTME and get ready for your exams. If you pass, I bet you, admission is yours. No school will fail you if you have passed, unless your script ran into some kind of mistakes in marking -more reason why you should be prayerful as well.

Kindly note that only God and your hard work can give you a "worthy admission" this year.

The Roll of allstudentcampus.com in all these

A Guide to a Successful Scholarship Application - Read This!

A scholarship is financial aid, which is awarded to individuals to further their education. Scholarship names are often inspired by the purpose and values behind the scholarship or individuals who relate to the scholarship’s purpose.

The fees could be partly or fully funded by the donor or awarding organisation. The donated money is not a loan and therefore does not need to be repaid. Getting a scholarship can make a huge difference in the life of a student. It not only gives the opportunity to further one’s education but has long-term benefits for the individual’s career. Every year international students all over the world struggle find a way to fund their studies; at the same times there are thousands of scholarships left unclaimed every year.

A scholarship is much desired by students all over the world- from developing countries to developed countries - and donors are looking for high calibre individuals that would serve their purpose in the best possible way; that is why the criteria can be very strict and the competition extremely fierce. Here are a few tips on making sure you find the right scholarship and be successful in your application:

Research

You should invest some time in researching for funding opportunities. As mention earlier, scholarships are tailor-made to fit a purpose. The donors and awarding organisation usually give scholarships, not only to fund your education, but to help shape your career. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you are going after a scholarship with a purpose and career path that you are okay with.

Once you have found the one for you, take time to research into the purpose and values behind the scholarship, as well as the donor, before you start applying. This will shape how you approach your application and which achievements you will bring to the forefront.

It is also worth finding out what the selection process is based on. Is it merit based, needs-based, student-specific, career-specific or specific to your local area? Often people are unsuccessful because they do not make themselves aware of this. If you focus highlight your needs on a career -based scholarship, you will be missing the point and inevitably the scholarship as well.

You should invest some time in researching for funding opportunities. Search for your scholarship abroad on Hotcourses Nigeria (www.hotcourses-nigeria.com).

Application form

Once you are ready to approach the application form, there are a few things you should bear in mind; it is important for you to follow instructions down to the last letter. For example, an application form could require you to upload your CV in a PDF format, instead of a Word document. Failure to follow instructions could give a bad impression. You should also be aware of the deadline, down to the last minute.

Fill everything out and use every opportunity to put your best qualities on show. You need to highlight anything that you feel makes you stand out from the crowd. Extracurricular activities and hobbies can put you way ahead of your competitors. You can also support your application with scores of internationally valid exams (GMAT for aptitude and TOEFL/IELTS for English). Remember: no achievement is insignificant, especially when you have a multitude of other competitors showcasing every last detail about themselves. Find out about the different types of English competency exams.

Personal Statement

This is your best opportunity to sell yourself. Some applications may restrict you to a certain word count, others may not. Make sure whatever you write is clear and concise. What is the point in constructing long, compound sentences with complicated words, which end up being misunderstood? Get straight to the point and again, do not leave out anything that adds to your value as a candidate.

Try to give specific, concrete examples about your achievements. It adds life to your personal statement.

References

Studies have found that reviews and recommendations are the most influential factors in decision making in today’s generation. This is probably more with consumer products, but it is also vital for donors looking for a bright individual. Your reference is the only thing that makes the donor know that you are not just making yourself look good, but others see good qualities in you also.

Make sure you choose your references carefully. A supervisor at a work experience may be more necessary for a career-based scholarship than any other type. However the classic blend of academic and professional references is always wise. That said, you must be aware of any specific requirements regarding types of references and the amount of references.

You should also speak to your references well in advance, as their delay could make you miss your deadline.

Final Checks

It’s the little things that could disqualify you. Proofread everything yourself, and then get others to proof read for you. Others are more likely to pick up on your mistakes than you are and employers tend to reject an application at the first sight of a typo. Make sure your contact details are correct. How devastating will it be to miss out on the scholarship because they couldn’t get in touch with you? Make sure you got the address right, the name of the sponsor and contact name correctly spelt.

Search for your scholarships abroad by clicking here and good luck!

If you have any questions or issues you'ld like to clarify, please do post it in the comment box at the bottom of the page and we will personally give a reply to your comment.

SIFE FUTO Launches FUTO Health Application for Mobile Phones

SIFE, an acronym for Students in Free Enterprise, is a body of students, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurship in community-based projects to transform lives and for sustainable development. SIFE came into existence in FUTO in the year 2006, and the team has since excelled to greater heights with projects that have impacted the lives of people in the community, improving their quality of life and standard of living.

On the 27th of February, 2013, SIFE FUTO launched a mobile phone health application at the Acerta Green Convention II, which held at Environmental Technology Auditorium, School of Environmental Technology, FUTO. This is a forum that brings all stakeholders in the FUTO community to discuss prevailing health and environmental issues. The Mobile application which was designed and programmed by FUTO students was born out of the need to tackle the slow response of medical services to emergencies and to curb some of the prevailing health issues in our community. This invention is a form of Telemedicine, putting SIFE FUTO as front liners in the promotion of this technology in our country. The application has the following features:

A search engine that links prevailing symptoms to possible diseases and proffers information and preventive measures for quick response in emergencies.
A diseases catalogue containing detailed information on some diseases, their general overview, occurrence rate in FUTO, symptoms and preventive measures.
A link to access the FUTO Health Report and a system that enables a user report emergencies to the Medical Centre before arrival.
Direct access to medical professionals for advice.

The content of the application was obtained through research by members of the project, and was verified by the Director of the Department of Medical Services, FUTO, Dr. Emerole, C. O. The FUTO ICT Center director, Prof. Gloria Chukudebe was also present at the Launching Event and she gave a resounding approval of the ingenuity of the project.

The Application is available now for Blackberry, Java and Symbian devices and can be downloaded at http://healthbookproject.wordpress.com/category/health-app/.

The event also witnessed the unveiling of the new name of SIFE FUTO. Its new name,Enactus, stands for Entrepreneurial, Action, Us in line with the new vision of the organization which is ‘enabling progress through entrepreneurial action’.The new name embodies what the organization stands for and will now be used for its activities with its partners and sponsors.

We urge our students to learn more and be the best of student in Africa and all over the world.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) which ranks all approved Universities in Nigeria annually based on each University’s overall performance and the meeting of the requirements of acceptable standards of an ideal University has released the latest ranking of Nigerian Universities.

The outcome of the 2013 ranking by NUC shows that FUTO is placed 12th on the list of 100 best Universities in Nigeria which is a marked improvement on its previous rating of 48th.

Reps Summon JAMB Registrar Over Mass Failure

The House of Representatives Thursday summoned the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof Dibu Ojerinde, over mass failure by candidates in the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The recently released result of the examination showed many students scoring below 150, out of the 400 marks based on the four papers each of the candidates sat for.

Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon. Aminu Suleiman (PDP Kano), said yesterday that the summons became imperative due to series of complaints and protests by a cross section of Nigerians.

Said he: “We heard that JAMB authorities had formally explained some reasons for the mass failure. This is not enough if the content of the complaints of Nigerians is anything to go by. One of the complaints was that concerning the usage of computer for the exam that most of them had never had contact with before.

According to him:“It can be recalled that the House passed a resolution asking JAMB not to use computer for the 2013 exams and they said they would make it optional; but there were still complaints by candidates that some of them filled the manual or paper option only to find themselves being asked to write the exams using computers,”.

He added that the mass failure might not be unconnected with the introduction of computers for the exams, bearing in mind that most candidates especially from Government secondary schools were not exposed to computer before.

He further said the committee had no option than to act accordingly to work towards finding a lasting solution to the perennial failures of JAMB candidates.

Lamentation of 2013 JAMBites - Register yours here and now!

A must read article - Read and broadcast till it gets to Goodluck

Jamb withheld over 80 thousand results - for what? Many due to lack of

biometric verification -

What about the centers Jamb never provided with biometric machine ?

Who is at fault ?

What about the centers where the invigilators askedthe candidates not

to be verified because of time wasting? Who is to be blamed ?

What about the center where network was the challenge? who is at fault ?

What about those candidates who did verification, Where is their result?

What will happen to the 1.2 million that won't get admission? What is

their fate ?

What will happen to the 4 thousand naira each of this 80 thousand

candidates paid?

Why has Jamb not made anyofficial statement on this issue?

What is the Federal Government doing about this?

When will these results be released or when will the candidates come

for there biometric verification?

Who is going to give an answer to all of this questions?

When will Nigeria be a better place ?

Nigeria is yet to be developed yet they do things of a developed

country - poor electricity yet they come up with biometric machines

that needs the use of electricity, Bad network communication yet they

want to do biometric verification which requires network- what about

dose that wrote exams in villages ? Did u build any network coverage?

Jamb should be sued to court for refusing to verify its candidates and

thereby refusing to release their result --- Goodluck Ebele Jonathan

all this things happening in your regime - this is not boko haram

issueso you should tackle it.
